On 20-26 March 2022, the Primary School No. 11 named after Major Jan Piwnik “Ponury” (SP 11) hosted teachers from Latvia and Turkey. The “Peaceful Schools with Anger-free classes” project has been implemented since 2020 and its aim is to carry out activities and trainings on counteracting anger and aggression among students. The ceremonial welcome of the guests took place on March 21 at SP 11. Headmaster Krzysztof Rokita welcomed the guests, representatives of local authorities, media, teachers and students. Teachers Anita Kanca and Janis Pamiljans came from the partner school in Latvia, and from the partner school in Turkey, the headmaster Tuncay Altun and his deputy Ismail Alabay. The school choir sang the school’s anthem and “Ode to Joy”, and then the guests watched the presentation of Polish dance – Polonaise performed by students of class 8c. During the ceremony, the vice-president of Starachowice for social affairs, Mr. Marcin Gołębiowski, took the floor, who welcomed the guests and congratulated the management, teachers and students of SP 11 on their involvement in international initiatives. After the ceremonial welcome, our guests visited the school and had the opportunity to talk to students and teachers. There was also a conversation regarding the implementation of tasks within the project. In the afternoon, guests were invited to walk around the city and visit the Museum of Nature and Technology in Starachowice.
